I'm not sure the Prius has a very big effect on G1 Insight prices. I owned a Prius before I bought my Insight last May because I needed a car that could carry a minimum of 4 people...and the Prius was the primary car at the time. The Insight is an awesome FE machine but it's not very practical if you have kids and need to go somewhere as a family. I had to wait until the finances came along to allow adding the Insight to my hybrid collection. Just my $.02 worth.

I think the Prius has been the Insight's biggest competitor.

I think that from 2000 to 2006 the insight was chosen by commuters based upon mpg, if you needed 4 seats for a family the comparison was the civic hybrid versus the Prius and the Prius won that comparison.

Now it is the Prius versus the insight (and a few others) and the Prius wins ( for many reason).
