Default You guys think this one's overpriced?

2005 Honda Insight Gas-Electric Hybrid - 4 l/100 km | 56 mpg! - Ottawa Cars For Sale - Kijiji Ottawa Canada.

Its a Canadian 2005 MT(there exists only 5 of these cars, this one is S/N number 1)

37k mi.

I don't debate that its a nice car, with low mileage, and its a 2005, so still has IMA warranty (Canadian IMA warranty is 8/130 I think). $12k still seems like an awful lot.

I saw that one too browsing Kijiji sales site recently and thought similar. With the IMA battery still probably under warrantee, that's a plus and someone may spring the cash for it.

There's a high miler 230K 2000 car for $5,000 now for sale on the kijiji site in Markham/York Region in the Toronto area. It's a 2000 citrus colored Honda Insight .

There's also a silver 2001 Honda Insight for sale with around 100k km in southern Alberta now asking about midway at $9,000cdn, or the current owner will put it into storage so stated. I hope they have or get a grid charger. [and add some fuel stabilizer]

I missed my opportunity for a second red 2000 car in good condition aside from bad windshield/minor scrapes with 100,000km for $5400 just a short time ago in my town. It went down to southern AB as well.

That citrus one is owned by an insightcentral member. I want it, but I don't currently have 5k sitting around to tie up in it.

I'll tell you what...Kelly Blue Book is full of crap. Scares the heck out of me having a low mileage specimen with a new battery. Kelly says $8,500. I wouldn't sell it for less than $10,500. I hate to think what my insurance company would say it's worth if it got nailed. I feel totally underinsured.

I do too. I was just talking about this with someone. I'm ready for a fight if someone totals any of my cars. They're not just going to look up blue book and cut me a check, oh hell no. They're going to REPLACE my car.

I find it odd that the blue book on 00 and 01's seems to have dropped a lot in the last year and a half or so. When Insight #1 was damaged in early 2010, they appraised it at 8.5k with 149,000 miles on it. But according to KBB, it's only worth $4700 in Excellent condition as of now if it had 150k miles.

Eff that.

Eff that is right. I did note that the KBB went way up around June-July then dropped down by about a full Grand when I just checked today... Thus my shock I'm wondering if there's any sort of option out there for insurance.
Anyways, I'm straying OT of the original thread.

Well I ended up buying this car for 10000. It seemed like an okay price. I drove it back across the country (to vancouver) with no mishaps.

My 2001 CVT just turned 20K miles this week, gets a new IMA battery tomorrow. I wonder what the insurance would put it at.....

10k was fair for that one. There is a guy in California selling a 230k mile insight for a little over 10k.

But correct me if I'm wrong but the Prius out sold the G1 Insight and is probably the more desirable car to have. If it weren't for the Prius the G1 might command an even higher price.

With gas prices on the rise over here in the States, especially in CA where $4/gallon is no joke, I think the demand for used hybrids in general is very high.

Plus you can't really go by KB. People mistake KB as a price indicator, when in actuality it's just a guideline. You should go by the market prices in your area.

And since these cars are a sort of a rare find, the higher demand means higher prices.
