Default New guy in northern IN

Good morning all. I bought my silver 2000 5MT in May of 2010 from a gentleman in Phoenix, AZ for $7500. The car had 101,000 miles and had a lmpg of 62 mpg. The pack had also been replaced under warranty in March of 2010. The owner was the second owner and had owned the car for about 2 years. In the interest of full disclosure, I need to mention the following: I also discovered from the owner that he had reset the lmpg when he had purchased the car. After discussing with Sean Welch (RightLaneCruiser), it was decided that since that since the true lmpg may never be known, I went ahead and reset it when I returned from driving it home from Phoenix when I purchased it. I would have reset it when I picked it up but, since I received it at the airport and hadn't had time to review the owners manual before starting for home, I waited. I do remember that via a stop in Little Rock AR on the way home, I received 70.2 mpg. Since I've owned the car, with the help of Sean and others, I've gotten the lmpg up to 87.4 as of yesterday. Since I live and drive mostly in the country, I can take my time without holding up traffic, I have been able to log numerous 100+ mpg segments including an 8 mile trip home from the gas station at 158.6 mpg(I had to switch to metric and back-calculate it). I also completed my first 1,000+ mile tank in August with 103.2 mpg over 1,006.3 miles. Really looking forward to learning more about all the intricacies of the car here. Love this car!

Congrats on your purchase, glad you are enjoying it and getting such good milage. Living in a place you can go slow and take your time is a big advantage, I live in the city and the constant stop and go makes it really hard to get out of the 60's.

Mike, I think you are right. I'm kind of on information overload here...and that's a good thing. You are on "that other site" aren't you?
