I haven't found any threads listing how many miles per tank forum members and Insight owners are getting so I thought it would be cool to have one. I have not driven on one full tank yet but I wanted an idea of what most owners get.
List if you have MIMA/PIMA or any other MPG improving mods.
Thanks guys.
Interesting. I get between 500 and 680 miles per tank. I usually fill up just after the light turns on. My MPG has gone up since I pumped my new Bridgestones RE92s up to 60psi. I've identified several items that detract from my getting astronomical numbers like the other efficiency nerds on this forum:
- I'm missing a passenger side aero shield (long and under passenger seat)
- My passenger side skirt is somewhere between home and Sacramento on I-80
- The passenger side roof fitting - over the windshield/door - has broken clips and catches twigs, alfalfa, and air.
- My EGR tract needs cleaning - herky jerky
- Assist stays on above 75mph
Fixes coming. And if I would drive slower, I might hit 750 miles on a tank...

Stock car with no mods, missing all the under engine panels. This time of year with no AC running I get around 61-63 MPG, lots of in town driving with some mixed freeway. I usually start looking to fill up at 1/4 tank left, it is usually around 500 miles on the odo when I fill up and it takes around 9 gallons + or - half gallon.
I try not to let it get down to one bar left with the low fuel light on, have read some things on here that you can potentually starve the fuel pump, also that the fuel in the tank is used to cool the fuel pump. I guess it is a personal preferance, and yes with all that said I do run it down to the low fuel light every once in a while when trying to stretch things.

That's probably because it doesn't need to be said.
The Insight's tank is ~10 gallons, so add a zero to your MPG and thats your miles per tank.
IE: 60MPG, add a zero, 600 miles.

I am not looking for my miles per tank but thanks Eli, lol I am sure every ones tank mileage differs from one another and I wanted to see what others are getting so I can compare. I will post some photos after I am done with this tank of gas. I just dropped off the Honda at Oakland Dealership for the CVT flush and engine oil 0-30 synthetic weight. I hope this is what i should use. Tell me this is what I should use in the engine.
This summer the Insight logged, I think, four or five tanks over 1000 miles. The fuel log above has not been updated recently.
Read the notes for details on my car setup and usage.
Jim.
Thanks Jim,
100+MPG!
I have seen your car many times and the build and just love your car.
The tail extension you put on your car is sweet also. Just from that mod alone how many MPG did you gain? Sorry if I am not searching through the threads but you could narrow it down for me. thanks.
I'm with Eli and somewhat confused. The tank is @10 gallons, many of the members have posted their LMPG, so take that number and multiply it by ten (simply moving the decimal point one digit) and that will get you to the miles per tank. Is there something missing here? I was going to write a sarcastic reply but I am more confused. Do we really need pics? (I can see if someone reaches an absurd MPG like 100mpg but you are asking for everyone's input and pics). Put me down for 600 miles per tank. (yesterday my car took 10.2 gallons, a bit too close).
The correct oil, and most all of your questions honestly are asked VERY often, by using the SEARCH on the main page you'll have easy and correct access to which engine or tranny oil, mpg's getting better mpg's, which tire pressure, which tires, and the myriad of questions that either lurkers or new Insight owners will want to know but get answered at least once a week. Hope that helps a bit.
You're right, excuse my noobieness of having to search through tons of threads but I sometimes like the answers to just come to me I know I will probably get some sarcastic replies but thanks for holding back. I guess I like the more "interactive" feeling.
After the transmission flush and engine oil change I will see if MPG improves.
As you go, you learn. Getting better mpg will go from tank to tank. There are to many variables involved in mpg. To me getting better mpg is a game I like to play when on a long trip. It keeps the boredom away.
Willie

Hey Willie!
True, what is the average city mpg people are getting these days now that our cars are about 10 years old. I am showing a combined 42-46mpg average 70% city30%hwy. my car is a CVT also.
Does anybody near me have a grid charger they could help me condition my battery pack with? I Am willing to pay some cash for bi-monthly conditioning.
