Default Expected battery life in a 2000?

I think I remember the original warranty being 80k, and I know it was extended.

I'm asking these questions for background on an issue.

What is the expected battery life in a 2000 Insight, originally?
And is it the same after having the batteries replaced under the warranty?
Also, what is the cost to do this (still around $2k?)?

And how does having replaced the batteries affect the value of a used Insight?
Thanks.

Search and yee shall find.

Willie
There is no "expected battery life". Too many variables to take under consideration.
Battery warranty will more than likely be taken under consideration by the dealer you contact, with a negative attitude. (Take a jar of vaseline with you)
Dealer quote for a replacement not undrer warranty is beyond acceptance to the "normal" person.
Lots of posts about your inquiry, grab a seat and hang on.

I think the warranty was extended to 150 and then 157something due to odometer error in some years. I suspect you are still trying to determine value of your wrecked one. I'm not sure you can pin a number on the value of a replacement battery & modules. I think the cost on the invoice would be nearly $4K? but maybe someone else knows, but to be able to put a value, I'm not sure. So sorry you have had such a hassle.

I already had the battery replaced at 75% of the current mileage. I figure that would add some amount of value to the car (if I were to buy another one with higher miles, I'd want one with newer batteries).

My '00 is just coming up on 245K and is on the original battery. Said battery is about shot, however. The capacity is so low now, I can only do a partial acceleration if I wish to avoid a reset. I'm looking into doing an equalize charge on the individual sticks, as I do not have a grid charger. Replacement (rebuilding) is probably looming in my near future. I drive like an old lady; maximum mileage, with a lifetime mileage of 70.2 MPG.

I don't think not being able to accelerate is "about shot", but rather "already shot".

At 245K, there isn't a whole lot to rebuild even after you get it balanced, so plan on a replacement battery of some sort.
