Turn off your heat completely and set the air to recirculate until you get half bars, then put it on manual 1-2 bars fan speed and leave it on recirculate until your cabin temp is up. Your car will warm up much faster (but you won't!).

Yeah, cabin heat was off until about 7 miles in. Coolant temp was 156 degrees at that point and dropped to 146 degrees before starting to heat back up again.

Four bars on the temp gauge only represents a coolant temperature of 140 degrees. 6 bars is 160 degrees, which still isn't full operating temp of 195 degrees.

Mainly it's going to depend on driving conditions. The first half of the trip is slightly downhill at ~90MPG average, barely any heat being produced.

When the temperatures are still above freezing, it might be well to leave your heater off for the cabin area warming until the little engine warms up to promote economy, but lest the windshield get a crack at the base from sudden thermal expansion in very cold conditions when hot air from a toasty engine hit's it in sub-zero conditions: best put the defrost air on the glass from the start-up.
[Same goes for using windshield cleaning fluid to clear the glass when underway in the cold with a heavy windchill factor.]
