I'm starting my first winter with my Insight, and I want to protect the carpet from the gunk of winter. It looks to me like there are no OEM rubber mats. What works for lots of snow for a 2000 model? I've seen some grey rubber aftermarket mats, but most of what I've seen looks crappy. Thanks!
I recently purchased some rubber mats at Costco for around $15. They don't fit the entire floorwell so you might need something a little larger. See photos 1 & 2 in this link. The link also shows some fabric mats I found at Big Lots photos 3-5. Floor Mats
I've got a Michelin Weatherwise™ Extreme All Season Performance from Wally World for about $18. It has a tall lip and ribs that hold you up out of the snow melt. Sears has them too.

I bought a set, 3 pieces both front and a cargo mat, made by lloyds called rubbertite. They are perfect. $112 free shipping no tax from carid. The drivers side even covers the foot rest area that the factory carpet mats did not. More costly but they cover the entire floor, cut for the car better than the factory mats.
Carid also sells the WeatherTech rubber mats for the 1st Gen. Honda Insight. I have these in my car and these are good. However, it doesn't cover the driver's side foot rest.
Just bought a set of black rubber ones at at Big Lots today for $12, just some minor trimming and they fit great. They had carpet at the bottom with only rubber on the top towards the pedals.
Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I want maximum coverage, since we have extreme winter weather here in MN. I was planning to call carID tomorrow and ask about the fit on the Lloyd's vs. the WeatherTech. Sounds like the Lloyd's may fit my needs better, if it can handle snow and winter sludge as well as the WeatherTech.
One thing I did notice on the carID site is that they show mats for 2001-2006 insights, but not 2000. The fit should be the same for all 1st Gen. insights, yes?
Yes, I bought the "2001" for my 2000. Not sure why they are sold that way. If I remeber, the weathertech was not an exact fit and needed to be trimmed. The rubbertite are perfect, this is my third set for 3 different vehicles. I have not been able to wear them out.
