Default Mileage update on purchase

Hello,
I thought I would update how I am doing with my "new" Insight. I have been driving it back and forth to work, it is 80 miles round trip. My route is all 2 lane state roads with constant hills and curves, my longest strait, flat road area is only about 1/2 mile in the whole trip!!! I get it into lean burn there!!! I am still learning the smart driving habits that get the high mileage. I am STILL on my first tank of gas, and my average is 62.5 right now. My wife just ask me last night if I was ever going to fill-up !!!!!! I love it.
I have gotten tons of questions about the car from fellow workers, I work for the Dept. of Defense on a military base here, we have a lot of "high tech." people that have never heard of these cars. When I start telling them about it, most of them want to know more about it and why these are not more common. You never see any around here.
In these times where the top auto makers are going green and electric, most people are in amazement that this type of mileage and technology was available in 2000......
I have owned around 150 different cars, bought and sold them as a hobby, but this is my first Insight,,,, I can tell you that I will own one till I am to old to drive!!!! These cars are just too much fun!!!
See ya on the road,
Darrell

You will see MPG drop some in the colder months and improve during the warmer months. The FCD is addicting.

Hi Darrell,

You must be a fast learner, as 62 mpg partially through the first tank sounds very good.

My first tank was "only" 56 mpg, so you're off to a great start.
