Hi folks,
I’m very close to making a remote purchase and a friend with more common sense than (in truth that would be any of my buds) I suggested that I might want to drive one (or at least ride in one) to see if I like it and to get a baseline of how these cars drive. Smart guy.
As we know this is not a common car and I’m not sure I’ve even manage to find a parked one to walk around.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone would be willing to take a half hour to show me their car in the very near future (because if I wait too long I might just own one).
Coming to Buffalo NY any time soon? If you are I'd be happy to walk you through mine.
Tim

I can understand why you'd think that, but it wasnt me. The person you speak of IS an IC member though. I believe their username is Coen.
You might however have seen me driving a green/black #0 Prelude(late 2011) or green/black camaro #26 (2010- early 2011), or a red/yellow #26 mercury sable (2007-2009) at mosport/peterborough's ovals.

Had a 300km "test drive" after buying my Insight today. Will do an intro post in the next day or so. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet some of the local members and compare notes. This is my first hybrid and I could have the world's greatest Insight or the worst for all I know...
4.9l/100km btw for the drive home, all highway between 105-120kph Now if you'll excuse me, I'm in desperate need of an FAQ!
That's likely the reason for your low numbers. You'll have to slow it down a bit to get into the 3.5l/100km range. Assuming this is a MT Insight, that is.

@Eli: Assuming this is one of the 396 Canadian Insight1s, its a 5MT w/AC. (12th digit of the VIN is an 8 on Canadian cars.)
Slow it down to 95-105 on 400series highways, and 80-95 on rural highways.
Numbers will be worse in the winter. My cold-weather scores so far: 4.3L/100km on Bridgestone RE92 w/OE Insight wheels, and 4.8L/100km on GoodYear Ultra Grip, P175/65R14 on steel wheels.
Warm weather on the RE92s, I turned in a 3.4L/100km tank, and several trips under 3.0.

Purchase of this car chewed up most of my weekend so I wasn't hanging around to get back home.
Actually I'm ecstatic about 4.9! Especially given I have oversized snows on presumably heavy steel rims, the heat and headlights were on the whole way and a bit of traffic when coming through Montreal.
