Buy 4 new factory tires for $2500 and get free 2002 Insight!

I saw a beat up 2002 insight on a local Car lot today. It had new tires but everything else is pretty beat. In fact the dealer won't sell it. He is letting it go to auction. He has $2500 into it and I think it will go for less at auction. (I would think) They said to call back on Monday and they might change their mind.

250,000 miles
IMA light is on
Check engine light on
Tarnished rims
Pitted hood
But it has NEW TIRES!



I don't have any money but I might consider selling mine and buying this one. (if I don't have to put too much into it.)

Advice? I could not sit in it or drive it. They did not have the key handy.

I would love to buy a car like that for an EV conversion. $2500 is about my limit on a donor car.

The flights are cheap from Phoenix to Sioux Falls...

Oh, and I forgot to mention the windshield is shot too. Poor thing. Looks like it had a hard life.

Just so you know the car is in the auction line-up and could go out any day. The car is not in their official inventory and is parked out back. The first salesperson I talked to had to do some digging. We thought at first it might be an employee car. After we got to the manager he said it was general practice to auction off a car that had high mileage. Having said all that if you call to get information on it they may not want to talk about it. So just so you know. I plan to see if I can drive it on monday then report back. Maybe I can convince the dealer to hang on to it for a bit if anybody is interested.

Well come on back! We still don't have any state income tax and our electricity rates are 7cents per kw and gas is about $3. The only bad thing is we are next to Iowa but the wind is generly from the west. They have big cattle and pig confinements.
