Hi all. I don't post much, but I just got off the phone with Tirebuyer.com...The guy says they have some of our tires. He said they have tires at facilities around the country. 5 here, 10 there etc. He mentioned cali. kansas, S.C. ...I asked the guy 3 times to verify the part # and size. So I hope he's right. So have at it guys, I'm sure they won't last long now...
I'm going to take a chance and wait for them to go out of backorder. I don't like the idea of buying older date code tires if I'm going to have them sit for a while anyway.. Tempting though, $361 shipped for four.

Thank you Racer. I went online there and ordered a set of 4. It came to $405.00 with all the taxes and free shipping. I called the place after the order to verify that they do actually have them in stock and they said as long as the system lets you add them to your cart they are available......... Hopefully I dont get the call in a day or two stating they are all on backorder........
I'm glad I could help. We have to watch out for each other, and help each other out. Thats why I posted about, where to get batteries reconditioned as well. Its gonna get tougher as theses cars get older. Thats why I have a parts car. I want to be prepared..I plan to keep my car as long as I can still drive....20-25 yrs yet....

The timing of this thread is amazing. Yesterday, I had my morning commute in the first major snow storm of the season, and my tires were giving me much grief. I almost got stuck once. Once I finally got to work, I decided that I had to find 5 RE92s (the reason I need 5 is that I have a full size spare and do a 5 wheel rotation). I first found two at a tire store in Florida and bought them immediately (the last two they had in stock). About an hour later, I stumbled across tirebuyer.com, completely unrelated to this post, which I didn't see until today! I also called them yesterday and was told they had them in stock. I ordered three, hoping like you that they would indeed ship. Well, I'm happy to report that one day later, I have a Fed Ex tracking number and they have shipped out. When they arrive next week, I'll report back. (Oh, and the two that I ordered first, in Florida, have also shipped.)
After you have received your tires, please report their manufacture date so we can determine whether your tires are new old stock or recently manufactured. The manufacture date is coded in the 4 digits at the end of the tire identification number. E.g., JCD0311 would indicate that the tire was manufactured in the third week of 2011.
I'll definitely report back. Of course, recent is a relative term. Given that these tires are on national backorder with almost everybody, and have been for almost half a year, I'm not expecting a recent date code. But I will say this, I am expecting them to be newer than the RE92s that are currently on my car -- my current 5 were manufactured about halfway through 2003!
Last weekend, I finally had to replace the tires on my 1998 "Nascar Limited Edition" F-150 ( Only 3K made) after finding that the tires have been losing air dramatically.
Need I say they were the original Goodyear Wrangler AT with only 45,000 miles.

With less than 40,000 miles driven, my 2000 Insight is still running the … um … original tires, probably manufactured in 1999. During the past year, small chunks have been breaking off the tread area and metal cords have become exposed along the inside edge of one tire. So even my old new stock 2009 RE92 replacements should be a big improvement.

Didn't you recently acquire a set while in Hawaii? What are you waiting on? A blowout? My tires aren't as old as yours and aren't falling apart yet. So fortunately I'm not facing the dilemma of letting go of tires with good tread left. Mine are down to less that 2mm on the edges and I've just reached the wear bar indicator on the edges of one of the tires.
