Our 10-year-old-next-week Insight is just sneaking up on 70,000 miles.
And of that, we put 5,200 miles on it four months after we bought it on an epic twelve-state let's-wring-it-out trip, from Utah to the Four Corners to the top of Pike's Peak... and then two other trips out East, some to St. Louis, twice to Miami... a bunch to Houston and back... probably 40,000 miles of the 70,000 has been on longish highway trips.
And it's still the car we drive most commuting around in town... of our six vehicles right now ("our" NBC, Odyssey, R350; "my" A8, and "her" SL550), I bet it's the one that gets the most running-around use, by both of us. Still, there's only so many miles we can possibly put on it.
CarFax and registration records are fine, but I still don't like the capability of someone so easily futzing with an odometer to be a possibility. Too many dishonest sellers, and too many clueless buyers out there. Oh, well...
caveat emptor...
