Default OEM Honda Radio w/MP3 connection?

Anyone know of a OEM Honda radio that will accept MP3 player, and fits our G1 insights?

Not looking for aftermarket at all!

If you are somewhat good with electronics, you can mod the existing one to have an AUX input, see the guide here:
AUX in (IPhone, IPod and another mp3 player) in stock BOSE system is possible!!! - Club RSX Message Board

I just use the cassette with the cord and plug my MP3 player into that. Not the prettiest but it does the job

I purchased one like this on eBay Insight MP3 Module. You just plug it in the back of the OEM radio. You can connect an ipod or MP3 player or both. The one in this auction comes with an ipod connector. You would need to purchase a 3.5mm connector to use a different MP3 player. They can be found on Monoprice.com for a reasonable price If you need another radio a s2000 from 2000-02 works well and has an amber display. You can find the radio/cd on the s2k forum website in there classified section (I picked one up for $30 shipped).

If you use that plug (in your link) with your OEM radio how do you switch to the Ipod/mp3? With the CD button? And if you have this set up how does it sound? Is there any breaking up or interference with radio stations?

Yes once the module is installed you just select the CD button. This module uses the plug that a cd changer would otherwise use (so the radio thinks it is playing from a CD changer there is no degradation in sound quality or "breaking up or interference from radio stations". You can control the volume through your existing head unit but to change tracks you need to go through the MP3 player. I think the sound is really good given the limitation of the stock radio. I use an iPod which sounds very good and a Sandisk Sansa MP3 which is not quite as good. I tried using the cassette fm modulators and found the sound quality to be far less desirable. This unit also keeps an iPod charged when vehicle is on and has a 5 year warranty that allows you to return it.

There are other suppliers see this link for more information: Insight MP3 options

Update: I searched for about 4 days and found quite a few manufactures that makes a device for our "CD" axillary button. The biggest problem seems to be most of the manufactures no longer make the item as our car is just getting a bit to old to have aftermarket items for such a niche market.

The best deal I found is for a Axxess AIP-HD02-ID on ebay this ended up costing me $23 shipped, and there are a few left if anyone wants one. It plugged right into the back of my factory 2000 radio. I only tested for around 20 min's with my 4th generation Ipod classic, and it does seem to have a few quarks. 1) the radio didn't seem to understand what I was plugging in at first so I had to use the manual seek button on the radio till it saw the MP3 signal coming in. 2) it seemed to randomly cut out for an unknown reason after 5mins of play but it wasn't consistent. 3) Once the little red power button comes on, on the Axxess unit box I didn't have the random cut outs, but I have no way to manually force the power light on. It did however charge the Ipod no matter if the light was on or off.

So far the sound quality is substantially better the any other MP3 FM transmitter I've ever tried (wireless, and wired). Maybe slightly lower quality then CD. I did not try the 3.5mm jack on the Axxess box as I do not have one a moment I'll update later after I've tested that feature.

I wanted to find a good OEM solution for the radio as well but since the quality of sound coming out of the OEM radio was just so awful, I had to bite the bullet and got an Alpine head unit instead. I love it. Even with sound deadening and carbon-fiber Polk Momo speakers, the stereo still doesn't hold a candle to the Pioneer (non-Nakamichi) original stereo on my LS400 but that's likely because of a lack of a subwoofer. But I digress..
