Default Oil drain plug/valve options

I have not encountered any issues yet with my oil pan/drain plug stripping, but I am looking for the best option to prevent this from happening the the future. What is the most common remedy or preventative measures to be taken? I looked at the Fumoto Valve/Plug. Looks like a excellent idea for a replacement at the next oil change........ It is well liked by its installers?

I installed the Fumoto valve on my car a year ago and love it, makes changing the oil a breeze and now I never have to worry about stripping out the expensive magnisium oil pan. I definately recommend getting this valve right away.

I just received my MityVac today and did my first oil change on the Insight. Not quite enough oil came out, but I didn't check the level before I started, plus whatever sits in the filter or the cooling setup.

Had to go buy a filter wrench too. The last person cranked down hard and really flattened the seal on the old filter. Probably because he buggered up the seal during the install and that was the only way to stop the leaks.

The last person did write the install date and mileage on the top of the filter. 5/12/2009 at 125722 miles. Current mileage of 135628. I bought it off a dealer 3000 miles ago. Guess I know the effort they put into their used cars.

I normally change my oil every 7500mi. I think the owners manual states every 10k or once a year.

The only "complaint" or perhaps just 'observation' I've ever heard on the Fumoto valve on any vehicle was it drained slower. Inconsequential imho as warm oil flow is only marginally slower rate due to the reduced size of the nipple orifice and takes a very short time longer to drain the oil.
Stick a clear plastic drain hose on the nipple of the Fumoto valve to route the oil to a container and then you don't have to remove the engine splash panels (...and can do it all from the topside including filter after removing plastic intake hose for access.)
