Oops! In that case, this may be my most expensive per mile car.

These look like Edmunds's True cost of ownership, although some of them might be used car numbers and some might be new (the Leaf and the Volt, for instance), which isn't really a fair comparison. For calculating TCO, you only calculate depreciation, not cost of purchase. I believe they also use the cost of an extended warranty rather than the average cost of repairs.

The Leaf would be tough to calculate. If you want to add in solar cells, you would have to add in the cost of buying and maintaining, so that is not realistic.

Our I1s are the gold standard, but I have to applaud the Prius for being able to move more than two people cheaply.

I too see the flaw. The original Insight was discontinued in 06, the other vehicles are still in production and some are brand freaking new.

Lets throw in the 79 Diesel VW Dasher and a XFI Geo Metro while we are at it.

Anyhoo, my maintenance for my i2 has been an oil change and cvt change every 10 thousand miles. About 70 bucks. Honda claims you need to change the brake fluid every 2 years. Did that too and topped off the antifreeze. Thats about 50 bucks for both bottles of fluid.

Insurance for full coverage has been 300 bucks every 6 months.

Hey. You would have that too if you own any one of the prius cars.
