Buy the Insight and put the money you would be spending on car payments with the Prius into your savings account.

After a few days you will get used to the auto stop. Do you need more interior space and seating for more than two? I think that is the decision maker.

The auto stop also takes some getting use to in the prius. After driving a few miles in heavy traffic you get the feeling you were snookered by the folks at Toyota and that they just engineered the car to win over the epa testing as they use a short track.
Ive driven the prius 2 and 3 to see if the grass was greener. In heavy traffic in VA Beach were a stop light takes 15 minutes to change. After 7 minutes of ac use the engine stated up and it idled like a regular car at top lights. It stayed running til I coasted to a stop at the next light. Then after a minute or so it started back up.
With the ac off it went a bit longer before the motor started up and ev mode was worthless.
At least with the Insight you can FAS it and with the hvac off you can stay in auto stop unless the engine coolant gets too cool.
There is no ignition switch on the prius and it starts the engine up when ever it feels like it.

The price seems a little high. A 2001 cvt with mileage in the 28k range went for less in the last day or two. I bought my 2001 cvt in october for $7750 not including tax, title, etc, with 19,351 miles on it, good but not excellent condition. Before I bought the car I checked with a local Honda dealer and the battery was still under warranty until April. The ima light was on when I bought it, and two weeks later I had Honda replace the battery under warranty.

I think you should have bought a MT Insight and the Prius to experience the best of both worlds. But congrats on your purchases.

Ok, i couldn't decide, so I bought both, but a different set of cars from what I initially wrote about.
2004 Insight 33K miles CVT and for fun a 2007 Prius 19K miles : ) This should be a lot of fun.. I hope

Could have bought just one & saved a wedge.
