Most gen 1 owners I meet average around 40mpg. Thats still high for an ecobox with a slush box tranny from y2k.

The Honda CVT isn't a slush box. Slush box is a term used because torque converters are purely fluid driven when the torque converters clutch is not engaged. The Honda CVT doesn't use a torque converter, it uses a start clutch, once you get past a few MPH it is a solid mechanical connection throughout with no fluid slippage in the system.
