Default Blizzaks for Insight discontinued??? Options?

Starting to do some hunting for winter rubber, and I keep getting told that the Blizzaks in our size are no longer available. Even Tire Rack shows them n clearance, with less than two (wonder how many that is ) available.

It looks like Nokian still makes the RSi. Any other options anyone can recommend?

The Blizzak is listed on Discount Tire, Custom Wheels, Truck & Car Rims | Discount Tire but instead of the $99 on tirerack, they are showing up as $116. I clicked on check availability and it shows that they could have them at their shop within 2 business days and that there are two in stock at two different locations, four total.

I already have 4 Blizzak tires on steel wheels so I'm all set but best of luck on your search!

I probably bought the last Blizzak MZ-03 for my insight.I reserve the tire last week and had them installed on steel rim today. it is a bit early but here winter is coming soon. I can not wait to try them in the snow. yet I find them very quiet on the road.
with tire be the next for winter in few years mayby.

Thanks guys! I have someone checking for me up here also. I'll let you know what I find out.

I really have no desire to go into winter with my somewhat tired RE92's....

I had Blizzakss on my #1, mounted about 5 years ago. i was not too happy, because the rears wore "lumpy" and started to make a noise like a bad wheel bearing. (yes, I made the mistake of getting new bearings!)
I have just bought 2 fronts for my #2 and was determined not to buy Bridgestone again.
But the tyre vendor said the old design had been discontinued, showed me the new version, the "LM-30" and convinced me that they were like chalk and cheese compared with the old design.
They are nice & smooth, no big tread blocks, but full of slits and corners. I expect good mpg coupled with good ice performance.
As thr man said, falling past the 4th story windows "until now, everything is going fine". They are quiet, are now almost run in after 200m and mpg is back to normal..

Great stuff.

However, it looks like the LM-30 is a European product only. Damn.

I'm thinking about getting some of these to put on my spare set of OEM Insight rims. I fully realize they are 175's instead of 165's but I think they will be just fine. According to the survey results, they look to be a bit better than Blizzack's to boot.

Talked to my tire guy today, and he made a ton of phone calls about the mz-03, and it seems that they may indeed be discontinued. He couldn't find any of them anywhere. He did dig up some Nokian RSi's, but even they might be discontinued. He was concerned that if I damaged one, he might not be able to get a replacement.

Just to make sure I never do anything too early, I am ordering my Nokians tomorrow. Hopefully have them on next week.

Nope! No Nokians left. Ok, that's not true. There are 2 left!

The tire guy made a good recommendation too. Said that buying the last couple of a discontinued tire was a bad idea. If I were to damage one, there would be no way to replace it. Makes sense.
