Default Anyone try Toyota 0w-20 synthetic?

It is made by Mobil 1, but instead of costing $9 or $7, my local dealer only charges $5.50

Lucky you, your local dealer is Carson. I've been curious about the Toyota 5W20 myself. If it is the same Idemitsu stuff that Honda's used, no thanks.

I've used it before. Your Toyota dealer may also sell you from the bulk 55 gal drums or bulk tank too for even cheaper. All Toyotas (except maybe some trucks) have switched to the 0W20 now.

Picked-up the Toyota oil. The looks of the sales people as I drove the funny-looking insight on the lot was amusing. I especially enjoyed pointing to the 70 MPG sticker on the back.
Only 9000 miles left til I dump the Mobil 1 0w-20 and try this Toyota stuff. As it turns-out, its really not that cheap, Walmart sells large bottles of M1 for $26.xx which is $5.30/quart. Same price.

For hypermiling, Toyota 0w-20 is MUCH better than Mobil1 0w-20.

Oh this ought to be good. Why?
[edit]
At 100C and 40C respectively Toyota oil has a viscosity of 8.6 and 38 (source: Blackstone lab). Mobil1 0w-20 is 8.7 and 45, so there's a minor difference but not much. Linky: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=2409059

This used-oil analysis shows the Toyota oil thinned to 7.5 viscosity @ 100C. That's almost as thin as a 0w-10 oil: Toyota 0w-20, 10,292 miles, 2011 Toyota Prius - Bob Is The Oil Guy

Probably because it's got double plus moly in it. Plus there's this statement from Toyota:

Quote:
Genuine Toyota Motor Oil 0W-20 contains a Toyota specific additive package within it, making it not interchangeable with other synthetic oils of the same weight such as Mobil 1.
Which is probably code for: it's got double plus moly.

Id quit buying toy oil after an oil change or 2 when I found it was by mobile 1. I buy it when its on sale at the local auto store, comes with a free filter or a rebate or gift card.

I got about 7 thousand miles or so to hunt down some more, so I got some time.
