Default Help me identify these two parts

I just bought a 2005 G1 Insight and found these two parts in the car.

The oval object is a rubber hole plugger but I don't think it's from the Insight. It's about 2" x 4" and has a flange to hold it into a sheet metal opening. I found it wedged in to the ABS brake lines under the hood.

The other part is plastic and was in the storage bin in the back. It's obviously a cover for something but what?

Ah the mysteries of a new to me, car.

Thanks for any help guys/gals.

the rubber thing is a cover that went on the firewall where the a/c lines go into the evaporator. Your car probably originally didnt come with a/c, so that cover was removed and a/c lines installed.

Not sure what the plastic part is.

I thought that all 2005 cars had ac. Maybe there was a rattle with the abs brake lines?

I thought a/c was always an option. Here is a pic of the plug in place in my non-a/c insight

Wikipedia says that the 2005s did come stock with A/C. I figured that maybe somebody was playing around at a dealership etc and threw the rubber part at another mechanic. It was sitting up against the brake lines but I don't think they were rattling or anything. Well it had a nice ride for 88,000 miles.

OK, well that's one item down. I'll look at the A/C pipes just to see if it matches up.

I looked around quite a bit about the plastic part and the part that the octagon cut wrapped around should be pretty visible somewhere on some car.

But I don't think it belongs to the Insight though.

Thanks to all.

The plastic piece looks very much like a seat rail cover, where the seat bolts down to the floor. My 2005 MR2 has a piece almost exactly like that.

I looked at all of the rail hold down bolts but I didn't see any covers over any of the bolts so I didn't even try to fit it on the rail. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Hmmm I remember now that the PO said he took the seats out to clean them. Maybe he only put the one plastic cover back loose in the car? If it fits I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Thanks

[edit]
That plastic piece does look like a rail cover but certainly not for an Insight. The Insight rails are right on the floor and if the piece is a rail cover the rail would have to be spaced above the floor. What ever it is will just have to be a mystery for now.
