Default How to obtain an IMA-pack's serial-number?

Hello, All,

My JDM Gen-1 automatic (in the UK) is likely to need its IMA battery-pack replaced. In order to provide the correct type a potential source of supply requires its serial-number. If I state the engine- and VIN-numbers will that identify it; or must I delve into the boot (or 'trunk', to most of you!)?

Thank you,

AF.

All the IMA packs in the G1 Insight are the same.

If you want an 8ah one with extra go made of brand new cells with two year rtb warranty you know where I am.

I have one in stock.

Thank you, 'retepsnikrep',

That's saved me a grubbing-around in the incessant rain.

Re your battery-pack: PM sent.

Thank you again,

AF.

They're actually not *exactly* the same, but it's a non-issue.

Earlier(?) cases are missing the tall fins that protect the rainbow harness. They have a different part number.

That's the only difference I've ever seen though.

Thank you, Eli,

(It's particularly selfless of you to advise seeing that you're in the batt'-biz yourself now.)

The JDM CVT's UK log-book gives its year of manufacture as 1999.
I'm informed that when ordering an IMA battery-pack there are two parts-numbers between which to choose: P1568-2000-2004 and P1570-2005-2006. (Commonsense would suggest that in each case the last two four-figure numbers relate to the Gen-1's years of manufacture.)

Would I be better-off going for the one with fins i.e. the P1570, although, strictly speaking, the one for my '99 car is the earlier type?

Thanks again,

AF.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. Most Insight cases, of any year, do have the fins. So I was assuming the ones without fins are extremely early production perhaps. It's also possible they are the 2005-2006 case?!

Curious. I admittedly have only had one known 2006 battery in my possession, and the owner was insistent that he send me his battery case and I send him the same one back. I didn't thoroughly check it out, I just thought the guy was being weird.

Perhaps he knew something we've all been missing, since 2005 and 2006 cars are extremely rare in general, and have until recently largely been under warranty?

At any rate, if you have a 2000-2004, you would want the P1568-2000-2004. If you have a 2005 or 2006, the P1570-2005-2006... But it sounds like Peter will get you taken care of. Don't buy a Honda pack.

Maybe they changed the cooling air flow in the case?
