Default New Insight Driver.

Hello, my name is Jerry I am finally a owner of the fabulous insight I have read about these cars and I have always wanted to get one.

I got it for 3000.00 it is a 2001 silver Insight 96000 miles cruise control and the IMA battery was replaced 12/10 and the old owner sold it to me cause he couldnt fit in it any more since he retired he gained alot of weight.

so far I have been getting about 58 miles to the gallon just realized today all 4 tires were at 20lbs of pressure. I reset them to 40 hope that works better. I am going to build my own grid charger I ordered all the parts today.

Does anyone have any suggestion on the first mod....

Sounds like a great price!

First mod? Mine was the "Calpod switch". Basically it is a switch in parallel with the clutch switch. This will allow you to turn off the assist or regen. I probably would not limit the assist so much but it sucks going up a hill when the background charge is going on. Flick the switch and background charge will go away (unless the battery is really super low - in that case you will get the background charge no matter what). The credit goes to a long time member of this forum named "Calpod".

Welcome to the club.

Creature comforts: armrest and leather steering wheel. The latter from an RSX or S2000.

Congrats on a great deal.

I don't believe in mods. Or pouring Slick50/other additives into the oil sump. Or removing the air filter for extra power. More often than not you are damaging the car, rather than improving it. That's what the previous owner of my 2006 did to my car. Damaged battery & damaged engine

And yes $3000 is a good price. I paid double that for my car with equal miles.

I guess mentioning Marvel Mystery Oil wouldn't be appropriate then?
