I think it turns on and off regardless of the dial position. Does anyone know if the auto system uses a thermostat? That would be pretty cool actually. No pun intended

So there's no difference in how often the A/C runs whether I choose 65 or 75? Cool. Now I don't have to be warm anymore.

Well I'm thinking it might activate based on a thermostat, I hope. Its hard to tell exactly but its pretty cool even here in swfl, but I'll turn AC on still when that dang sun decides to act up but the fan for ex won't work as hard and I'll hear that click sound I believe is the AC compressor switch going off and it does so at various times it seems not so entirely related to the dial position.

I keep my fan at full blast all the time. I can feel the engine lose power when the AC kicks on, and gain power when it turns off. I've not noticed if the AC if more frequent if I turn the temp down.

BTW if you set the temp to 60, that's the same as asking for max cold. I get no heat of any kind. But if I set it just one tick higher, 61, then I get heat off the engine & it warms up the cabin.

Heat off the engine? how would you feel that at only one notch right of the coldest? It must be REALLY cold where you are, and by that info i'm going to guess there IS a thermostat at play here, and i'm not talking about the coolant temp as I believe someone else mentioned but a cabin thermostat. I wouldn't know why the system would use a thermostat off the engine temp to regulate the cabin temp.

I use my skin. At 60 there's absolutely no heat (brrr), and at 61 my cabin gradually gets warmer inside.

It's a more expensive climate control system where the temperature can actually be set as opposed to the cheaper separate A/C and heater systems where the actual numeric temperature cannot be set. So a thermostat must be involved.

Not just a thermostat, an [indirectly] fan powered aspirator system with a dash-mounted insolation sensor. With a mixing valve and variable speed fan. Quite the nice system... I let it do its thing in econ ac/off.

Are you implying that the numbers displayed for each dial position represent temperature? I just figured they were just to give you something to go by adjusting the temp. Really? Silly me. Then there must be a cabin thermometer. Can anyone bet their life on it tho?
