Default What oil do you use? (Insight or 1G Civic hybrid)

TALLY:

0w-20 Mobil (5 1/2)
0w-20 Toyota (1)
0w-20 O'Reillys (1)
0w-20 Quakerstate (1/2)
0w-20 Renewables (2)
0w-20 Peak (1)
5w-20 cheap citgo blend (1)
0w-20 Pennzoil (1)
0w-20 Honda Ultimate Synthetic (1)

In my 2002 I used Amsoil XL 5w-20 because that was the only synthetic oil that was available way back then. It ran very well.

With the 2006 I am experimenting with Mobil 1, Toyota 0w-20, and Mobil Extended Performance 5w-20. Whichever one shows the best used oil analysis is what I will end-up using long term.

Mobile 1 since the early 90's on various cars.

I would advise against the 5w-40, the higher viscosity means it won't flow as well through oil passages designed for 0w-20.

Currently using 0-20 Mobil 1, but switching to Amsoil 0-20 on the next change.

Mobil 1 0-20. Drove north to wally world to find the shelves bare. Called and found I should have driven south. Found instead at advanced autoparts for $8.99/qt. Oil for a change is half the price of spark plugs!

Types of oil used:
Penzoil 0w-20 initially, Mobile1 0w-20 thereafter.
using initially Honda parts filters then lately Mobile1 Oil Filters. [Changed when Maintenance light is lit solid.]

i use o'reillys auto 0w-20 full synthetic motor oil.
they are only $5.50 a quart. cant go wrong with that.

anyone ever used the conventional 5w-20 motor oil on their 1st gen insights?

i mean walmart only sells them for $2.63 a quart i believe and im pretty sure it wouldnt make a difference in a small weight change but just curious.

I started using Honda oil, then mobile1 or quaker state all 0w20 depending on what is on sale.

For the sidekick, geo metro and wagoneer I used what ever was on sale. I just recently put castor in the kick and I think Ill stick to that 5w30.

I use Renewable Lubricants Inc. BioSynthetic 0W-20.

It's bar none the best oil on the market, and it also happens to be the greenest oil on the market.

while on the topic of oil, has anyone used seafoam in the crankcase? ive used it for the fuel, but have always been leery of adding to oil. As old as my engine is, i wouldnt mind a "clean up" if it works-but dont need to mess anything up either

Our engines run very clean and seem to be very easy on oil. I don't think it's ever necessary, unless you know the engine has been extremely abused maintenance wise.

There is hardly any varnish at all in the 460,000 mile engine. They run too cool.
