Default Civic Hybrid battery in insight?

The 1st and 2nd gen are both NiMH. But they are much more compact than the insight. Would they work?

Short answer is you can't use either first or second gen Civic batteries directly in the first gen Insight.

However, the sticks from a first gen Civic ('03-'05 HCH) can be used as-is in a first gen Insight case.

Oh good.

I thought adapting the NiMH Civic battery to insight might be easier than trying to fit a Lithium CRZ battery.

QFT. I have swapped 04 HCH stick into an Insight pack. They work great once the temp sensors are moved into the proper places.

The short answer is basically correct.

But with the right knowledge and hacking about you could use the battery in an Insight.
It would not be an easy swap. Some issues I can think of are.

1) Temp sensors Insight has four Civic has three
2) G1 Switch board won't fit on the civic battery
3) Battery won't fit in OEM space in insight or bolt down correctly or have cooling in right place.
4) etc etc Loads more issues and gotcha's

If you had a known good civic battery you could take all the sticks out of that and put them in the insight case as has been pointed out. That's the easiest option to utilise a good civic HCH1 battery.
