Default Just dropping by to say hello..

Been here and about for a while now. Just picked up this 2001 Silver CVT Insight. 81,000 miles. Started throwing codes a few days after i got it home. But those will be addressed shortly. Just bypassed the ima battery today and even with aftermarket tires, spats cutout, and running solely on gas it's getting about 40 mpg. So to me it aint that bad. So just wanted to say howdy and upload a couple of pics. L8R.

Welcome to the Forum, sorry to hear about your code issues. Let us know if you need any help with what the code is and how to address it. Also might want to double check the year, CVT wasn't an option until 2001 model year. Still that is pretty low milage for a car that old.

I've seen the cut out wheel covers before and I'm just not sold on them? You going to keep them that way or go back to fully covered?

Hi , congratulations on the purchase, the cut outs seem very well done. Hope the codes will be easy fix, 80k is still new!

Yep edited first post year was wrong. P1449 is the only code that is throwing at the moment. The check engine light and ima light came on so i disconnected the neg. battery cable and everything works okay for about 7 miles then the lights are back. So until i can get my grid charger working and then determine the state of the battery i'm just gonna run on gas only and i think i'm gonna leave the spat cutouts for the time being. Other than the codes everything functions as it should. So overall i'm happy and will move forward fixing the few issues that i have.

Watch out for the bug that afflicts many of us on this forum. First, it's the correct tires (RE92 Potenzas). Then it's cleaning the EGR plate. Then raising the tire pressure to get that extra bit of fuel mileage. Then the battery. It goes on and on, and is a blast!

Gird charging may help, if there is anything left in the IMA battery. I personally would not run without one, just too spoiled. Also, lean burn on the MT models will spoil you, and only works when the IMA light is off. I am totally spoiled with lean burn.

My 0.02 worth,
Tim

they fit perfectly in a old computer power supply case, you can keep the fan and just connect it to a separate 12v power supply.

Some people measure and drill the case then place and bolt the parts neatly, I just fastened them with wires to the case (too ashamed to post pictures), but it does the job. revived my zombie IMA battery....

Well i broke down and did my first mod to the insight. Wheels.. During the install i found out someone has installed spacers on the rear of the car and the engine underbody panels are missing. Also changed out wiper blades on windshield.

sounds like an unscrupulous seller reset the battery for the test drive and for the sale..
