SO, was thinking of picking up an one owner 2000 Silver 5spd Insight with 91,000 that has new brakes, rotors, brand new Honda Hybrid battery, new regular battery, 100,000 service done, Honda pre-certified(HPC), 12 month warranty for anything that happens to the car, super clean inside and out for $6495.00 Plus $495 processing fee. (BS processing fee). Was told they cannot change the price, so I made him give me back $350 traveling fee... What do you guys think??? Thanks

If the car requires travel of that extent then you are kinda setting yourself up. I personally think it is too much money for a 2000, even with relatively low mileage but I suppose this is what dealers are asking and in some cases getting for clean cars. The Honda pre-certification makes a strong case, but I'll bet that the warranty does not cover the hybride battery in writting(i.e. there will be written exclusions-ask.) On precertified cars, watch the exclusions and carefull check the cosmetic issues such as front rock nicks and windshield quality. Neigher are usually covered. Ask me how I know
I still think you can find a good car right here in the Mid-Atlantic if you are patient. The dealer has you back into his corner if you make a big trip to see the car. He know you are at a disadvantage and there is little room to negotiate.

I bought the same car with the same milage for about the same price 2 years ago. I am happy with mine. Don't let them bluff you, they can always lower the price. I showed up at the dealer with a fist full of cash, made an offer and they dropped $1000 off the price.
Yeah, the guy was supposed to call me back and said he forgot. He told me he had someone coming to see it for a second time and would rather sell it locally to him. I have never heard of a processing fee of that much $498. I even that told the stealership guy that it was just an internal markup, and he agreed. So, I told him to pay for my plane ticket or travel fee of $350 and he agreed. Now, that he might have another buyer, he has kinda pushed me off to see if the other guy buys it. But, he'll let me know. I hate soulless dealers!

Hi , the price seems a little high, but if you have to buy a beat up car for 2-3 grand and then start fixing it up it may get more expensive and take more time.
The fuel efficiency of an insight 1 is unsurpassed yet, but there are some draw backs .
However the age is age .
As time passes by different components fail and the parts prices for the insight are quite high.
Personally if I have to make such a choice right now I would consider a new car too , there are good cars for 16-20k ... and brand new...
