Default Where does this site get operating cash from?

I did a few searchs but couldn't think of any good key words to get the answer. I'm sure this has already been discussed, sorry for the duplicate question.

Anyway how does this site work? I would think Honda is involved but on the other hand Toyota news is posted as well? There is not a lot of adds(none) and the site is very nice/works well.

Late reply initiated from the other thread you refered to:

Here is what I know and one would need to confirm if I am not mistaking. There is no economical resource for this site. It is Brian the site owner that pays for it. There is no adds.

Thanks for stating that the site works well and is nice.

It is not a tude so much as a lack of understanding. I did not understand why my questions went unanswered and I did not understand the reason for the one thread being closed. I assumed that Honda has something to do with the site because of the strict rules, great "inside information" and the lack of another answer.

At one time I also asked what would happen to this sight if the Insight was discontinued, wondering if it would become hybrid-central or stick to the Insight only theme. Funny I can't find that old post, maybe I wrote it and never sent it or something.

It had seemed to me that if the site was privately funded the answers would have been more forthcoming and like the rules would not be so strict. I incorrectly assumed that Honda had placed limits on what this site could or could not do.

The reason for the question in the first place was if such limits existed, we could all understand them and not push the envelope set by Honda. Clearly I was in error about all such assumptions.

Honda has always paid attention to whatever is being said about it whether that be in print or more recently on the web. That is part of what has made them a success. When Honda introduced the first Prelude the "rotary" radio was panned by the press. Within three months Honda had removed it from the Prelude and replaced it with a traditional but more boring radio.

I'm sure they are reading this site. I'm counting on it!

As you can see the site adress ends with a .net and so is not commercial. A similar site for Prius ending with a .com and allows advertising.

The "rules" give the site some class, don't you think?

If the Insight is discontinued there will be even a greater need for this site.

I have no affiliation with Honda. (Wish I did.) I have read a biography of Honda, (the founder). It is a good read, especially if you are interested in buisness models as an entrepreneur. Honda has had the fastest growth rate of any post war company in Japan. Study the best to learn grasshopper.

.com .net and .org have always been unrestricted and open to commercial content.

Erm, yes, the last part of the name, the "top level domain" is just that, the last part of a name. The name usually implies an origin or content, but as it is just a name, there aren't really any "rules" regarding what is allowed and what is not on a site with a given name.

Actually, there are rules for many of the TLDs, just not for those three.
