Default Ooops... I got banned for saying I get 90 mpg!

http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ult ... 3;t=000677

My handle is "farfel" (Seinfeld reference). I read the post, and figured this would be a great opportunity to educate these car folks about hybrids. Their response:

- First they called my 90 mpg claim "bs"...
- then they pulled my membership.

HA! Lesson learned:
- Be careful what you say to non-hybrid folks.
- They'd rather censor you than learn.

EDIT: I humbly request all who read this go to that website, and tell them how WRONG they are.... i.e. tell them your MPG. Thanks.

They probably are used to 9 mpg as the highest they ever see!

Hurmph. Reading that made me mad. They were very rude to you.

Too bad that they didn't want to actually verify that you were "full of it" and therefore learn that you were right.

It is not surprizing that people are skeptical when someone states their average mileage is almost 50% GREATER than the EPA estimates. We here all know it is possible under consistently ideal driving conditions, but if I was not an Insight owner, I probably would not believe a 90mpg claim, either.

But they should not have banned you. That was rude.

Wow. Somebody needs to make a video of their commute with the mpg graph showing... No wonder the Insight doesn't sell well in the states. Nobody even knows what they can do...or how to drive them.

??? 90/70 = 28% greater

Also I did provide backing evidence with insightcentral's mpg database... their response: "ban him!" Yep rude.

My short reply:
All too frequently some of the sorriest people in the world are forum administrators (not here obviously). You really get to see what a mockery "Playing God" is because they are pathetically lacking in both intelligence and decency.

I was on a forum that stated they were family-friendly, but that would depend on if you considered The Jerry Springer Show tasteful. The administrator would act like a good-natured bleeding-heart while encourageing trollers to harass well-behaved people. Few things are more disgusting than a shepard turning the wolves on the sheep while claiming to be the protector.

I will join that site and annoy them by telling them the truth.

Hey, if you weren't banned, you could tell them that I a) don't drive particularly slow; b) drive in mountains, not flat freeways; and c) still get 75 mpg.

I did think of signing up for that forum just to tell them so myself, but their signup form looks more like a request for a security clearance. Sheesh, birth dates, photo ids, all sorts of addresses that I don't have...

I would have a few comments:

- As Troy, your reputation on Internet forums precedes you (you are well know) but you did use an other name so it might not count
You have been nice until now so 'thank you' and please continu. That is as a moderator.

- You pointed to InsightCentral and specifically about lifetime averages but you know ("been that way for nearly a year now") that the database is not working so these guys would have a hard time to validate what you wrote

- Didn't you sell your first insight some time ago and now you where looking to buy an other one? If so, it is hard to increase the LMPG and it is harder with time/mileage. It might not be easy to beleive that a LMPG has increased so much
