Default Honda Insight Plugged In!

I found this picture while searching the net, and would like to know if anyone knows if this is real or fake? I think it is fake myself, but I could be wrong.

And you thought it generated its own electricity.

That was taken from the Insightman's site at the 1999 South Florida International Auto Show.

It could be anything from a 110 volt accessory like a lamp or an alarm system. It was ment as a joke then.

A great joke would be to have a short piece of an extension cord hanging out from the rear hatch or somewhere around the license plate. I can imagine the truly concerned comments from people thinking it could electrocute someone.

Then again it could also confirm peoples belief that the car needs to be plugged in

I would love to be able to plug my Insight in. Sadly....

Not entirely helpful due to the small battery, but on those VERY rare occasions where my days travel results in a battery 3/4 depleated, it would be nice to top it up at night.

Thats likely just a plug in for a 12 volt power supply so lights and other various items can be powered while the car is on display. I've seen this at all sorts of indoor car shows/expos. It's common, especailly when the vehicle has a lot of lights or stereo eqipment to run. They probably had the headlights on or something for the display.
