Default Is there a benefit to buying a California Insight?

Better emissions?

Better warranty?

Is it PZEV qualified?

They're all the same emissions equipment. 5 Speed is ULEV, CVT is SULEV rated in those complying low sulfur gas states, everywhere else they're really just LEV's. You will only get the extended emissions warranty in California or the other included states (I think NY is one of em).

Hi ElectricTroy:

___There is an advantage to purchasing a PZEV based HCH, Prius II, or Escape HEV as well as any other number of mainstream PZEV’s from California, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont (PZEV based Accord, Camry, Beemer 325 …) but the warranty for the Insight’s are the same no matter where they are purchased as none are PZEV equipped.

___As for emissions, on our low quality - high sulfur fuel here in Illinois, our Insight’s are only LEV’s. With higher then EPA estimates however; the emissions in g/mi can actually produce better then ULEV emissions in the real world let alone a vast reduction of CO2 emissions vs. any other US based automobile

___Good Luck

I'm assuming you don't live in CA. But if you do, one advantage is that a new state law allows you to drive hybrids in carpool lanes as a solo driver.
