Default Mobil1 0W-20 Discontinued!

Just got done reading some Yahoo group posts, Mobil has discontinued 0W-20! I didn't believe it at first, but I just got off the phone with their tech support line. They're replacing it with a 5w-20 so it's not the end of the world.....

But I'm heading out right now to go see if I can find a case or two to stock horde.

Just got back from Pep Boys, I am 2 cases heavier now. I paid full retail price, but all well. If anyone finds themselves in dire need as of this afternoon I know where 4 more cases reside.

Great just after I've switched to it a couple of months ago.

Did they give a reason why (like lack of sales)?

There's not really any difference between 0W and 5W. I used 5W in my old insight #1, and still got >90 mpg.

The reason was because they're comming out with a 5W-20. If you look on their web page they've got an entire new line which is guaranteed for 5,000 miles, 7,500 miles, and 10,000 miles. Or something like that. I'm still debating whether or not I shold go buy another case or not.

I contacted them under "contact us" at the bottom of the Mobil 1 site and this is the response I got...

"Yes 0W20 has been replaced with our 5W20 synthetic oil because of
consumer demand. We do
apologize for discontinuing the 0W20. We hope you still continue using
our products."

I bought a couple of cases today too, and at the end of the month when payday comes around I guess I'll go for a couple more.

I wonder what the difference will be going to the 5W20?

Ohno!

Does oil ever go bad? If we stockpile it, will it hurt our cars in a few years to be using oil that was made in 2005?

I seriously doubt new oil that is a few years old will go bad, unless it gets contaminated.
