Default For those who bought the all weather floor mats . . .

Did you cut the holes in the floor and anchor the driver's side one? Or did you skip that part? It doesn't seem like they'd slip . . . but then again, I don't want to be in a freak floor mat accident, lol

You HAVE to cut holes on driver side floor carpet to install the anchors. The same for regular floor mats.

Just make sure to follow the instructions and you should be fine. I'm going to install them when the mats arrive on this Thursday.

I found this thread on a Fit forum. http://http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-generation-ge-08-present/37494-all-season-floor-mat.html
You're not worried about the hooks eventually ripping the flooring/carpet? Also, is this something new? I've never had to install floor mats before. Mine have always slipped around, but it's no big deal.

Manufacturer puts two anchors there for a reason. Anchors are needed whether you have all-season mats or regular floor mats.
I wouldn't worry too much about ripping the floor carpet coz the bottom of mats should have some sort of high-resistance lining that minimize the movement. The anchors are more like "aligning" the mats at proper position.

If the floor carpet is that easily damaged, I guess Honda wouldn't make that, would they? I don't know...

I just installed my carpet floormats today. I installed the anchors as instructed. It was no big deal at all, the only thing I did different than the instructions is that I used a pair of pliers to clamp them together once they were in place (instead of the screwdriver they recommended). It is definitely a safety issue. If by some freak of nature your floormat slips under your brake pedal and you need to make an emergency stop but cannot due to the floormat jamming up the pedal, you'll be very sorry that you didn't install them. I know it is an off chance but its cheap insurance to prevent an accident that would likely be ruled "your fault" upon inspection of your vehicle.

I actually had that happen to me about 15 years ago...scariest feeling in the world is to not be able to use your brake because a mat got bunched under there. I was quick enough to avoid an accident, but from that point on I always anchored my mats.

Anchoring the insight mats was scary just because I had to cut my prestine car...but in the end it was easy to do and I feel much safer having the mat anchored.

Our all weather mats were installed by the dealer before we bought the car and the installation price was not shown on the sticker. they did a very nice job. Another option would be to use velcro strips if you were really cautious. You want the industrial ones, not the thin ones designed for clothing. You can get these at Lowes.

I installed mine last night. It was clean and easy. Simply followed the attached instruction pages and that's it. The only tool you'll need but not included in the box is a cutter knife or x-acto or similar.

When you make a cutout on the floor carpet, note that the carpet is pretty thin (around 2mm?) and you don't need a lot of effort to cut through it. Underneath the carpet layer is those sound deadening cotton cloth which you do not need to cut through it, though no harm if you attempt to do so.

Now I wouldn't worry about the mat slipping forward and mess with the pedals.

My car didn't come with floor mats but I picked some up today at the dealer. On the dealer web site it was $25 to install. I found that a bit odd (how hard is it to lay a piece of carpet down!) but on the driver side you do actually have to cut some square holes and "C" cuts to install the anchors.

I agree with icdc, just take your time, follow the instructions, and have a sharp utility knife to make the cuts. The areas to cut are not marked, but you can feel the depressions out easily with your finger. The amount of cutting is very minimal. Don't worry if the cuts are not perfect, the anchors cover everything. Only took about 5-10 minutes to install the anchors. A flat tipped screwdriver can help with "snapping" the anchors into place. Put the screwdriver under the anchor, press down with your thumb and wait for the snap sound. Once the anchors are in place, the mat goes on top and it locks.

It your uneasy about cutting the carpet, the dealer can do it for you.

Weird; my car came with the anchors installed; all I had to do was locate the holes in the mats, press down and twist the lock tabs....
