The sad part is that most potential hybrid buyers only have the two cars to choose between. GM hybrids aren't even real hybrids (I doubt anyone here will argue with that) and the Ford Fusion and Camry Hybrid are too expensive for most people. I suppose the Civic-Hybrid might be a third option.

But.. I think in a few years there are going to be a lot more choices.

Your right, they did buy a Prius. It seems that they have a problem with the A/C screen already and the car is 1 day old. I am a member of Priuschat forum and was real close to getting a 2010 Prius. I check the threads every few days and it seems there is a lot of little problems with the new Prius. Some one today reported an oil leak. I like the new Prius but I am very happy with my Insight and I have no regrets.

It doesn't please me to see the Hybrid torch-bearer stumble, so I hope Toyota straightens out those problems... yikes.

On another note, reading some of the fuel economy "achievements" of these Prius 3rd Gen drivers, they're exactly the same as what I'm getting in the Insight.

JP

afterthought - some of those Prius folks are vicious and mean forum members. One of those posters hadn't even received his Prius and he was already bashing someone else. Geez, I hope InsightCentral never gets like that.

Concur...some never learn that it is better to have a lot of support, even if it is not 'your' brand

OTOH: there is sufficient Prius bashing, if not personal bashing on these forums to fill the bill:
Reading some postings here, I learned that no Prius ever built was close to ready for the road, all have been recalled, broken on the road, or otherwise disabled, that Prius in general apparently have a dismal record of failing on the highway and have to be limped or towed to an expensive repair...or at least that is unproven gist of the missives I know better, but they are fun to read....10 posts on the Priuschat about problems does not equate to abject failure of the product line, although some have postulated that is the case..

But you are right, rather than attack the poster, just tell the truth and question the statements....much more information is shared that way..

As an aside, FOXNews Car Report counters the Insight bashing crowd, after an initial cheap shot:

2010 Honda Insight - Auto - FOXNews.com

At least this guy gave it a second shot and found some truths

Sigh.......there must be a conspiracy.....
I actually thought that was a good, fair review. Some of the highlights that made me think it was positive:

On ride and handling: "...In other words, it's very much a Honda, at least within limits."

On the dash: "the arch gets straight to the point, and is a more effective coaching device than most."

On the interior: "does have a look and feel that will be familiar to Honda Fit and Civic drivers, and offers a decent amount of room for passengers... ...cargo area under the hatch is a healthy 16-cubic feet that can be doubled... ...a trick not often seen in the hybrid game..."

This review, too, counters that weird Consumer Reports review. And this came from Foxnews, no less...
