If a new car with a roomy back seat is what you prefer then I'd say Fit all the way. Get the Fit Sport, though, as it has Electronic Stability Control which is not available on the base Fit.

Your prius is paid for? I wouldnt worry in that case and like said, hord all the cash you can and make min payments to what you have to pay and cut all luxuarys like eating out, cable tv, etc.

As for used cars that get great fuel economy, dont discount the geo metro. You can find those cheap. I paid 100 bucks for mines and got 48mpg right out the box.

Remember that to get VSA you also must get navi for the Fit Sport!

If this wasn't so I would probably be driving a Fit Sport instead of an Insight.

Aw snap! You're right...! I was confusing LX/EX Insight with Base/Sport Fit...

Thanks for the correction!

I have had the Prius for 4 months and put 7,000 miles on it. I only paid $30,000 for the car. A part of me really wants to keep it. I don't need to trade it in. But, like I said having the extra money in my pocket is a good feeling.

What do you think I should do?
you paid 30k and they are giving you 28k after 7k miles? sounds good to me. with that miles you should be getting 4k depreciation with dealers

With a mix of city and highway driving I am averaging 37 mpg with a 2009 fit sport. The Fit offers better backseat headroom for sure. My Insight still gets much better mpg though.
