Talking Just picked up my Insight!!!

Hello Everyone!!!

I just purchased a white Insight EX, no navi, yesterday, with the light grey interior. I thought I'd get a car that gets better gas mileage since I've got a new job and it takes 30 minutes to an hour and half to get to and from work, depending on traffic.

A question about the cargo area. I just noticed today that there are spots to mount a cargo cover. Is the car supposed to come with that? I didn't get one.

THANKS!

Chris

IT's an extra feature as are floor mats and cargo mat. Grats on your new insight!

The cargo cover comes standard in Canada but is an option here in the states. I bought mine online.

I was in Vancouver BC this weekend & was sitting in the lobby when I overheard the receptionist say that a car was broken into. The receptionist said I think it is the young man from Washingtons little blue car. My heart raced!

I went outside & it was a Prius with Washington plates also in the lot who left belongings in the back seat that got broken into. What a relief, but I felt bad for the Prius driver & was thankful I didn't leave anything in the open.

One negative with the Insight is there is no hiding place. I usually put my valuables in the glove armrest.

I have been thinking about it also but honestly I have on in my Jimmy and I never use it.. Also I have the windows so dark on the car that you cant see in the back area anyway. So if you get one let me know how you like it but as for now I dont think I am going to get one.. PLUS they are way to much money wow... You would think Honda would give you some perks when you buy a new car.. I bought mine a few weeks ago and was shocked at the lack of extras that came with it (Not Much)....

There are "hiding places" under the rear area floor, and that's exactly what the cargo cover is for, to hide things without having to lift up the floor in the back.

As for Honda giving a break with the purchase of a new car, if more accessories are included, the price of the car goes up, part of the reason the Insight's price is so low is that included features are kept to a minimum. Some years ago carpet floor mats were not included on any Honda, (or Acura for that matter), and the dealers and customers complained. When they were made standard, and the price of the car went up, dealers and customers complained again. Nothing's free. But at least by being offered as accessories, the customer gets to decide which to include and which to take a pass on.

I highly recommend the cargo cover, it's an easy installation, and there's stowage for it in the back, under the floor.

In Canada it's only standard on the EX model, the LX it's optional. But like the folks pointed out I pay about 33% more for my car.. It certainly wasn't free.. :-P
