I just had two people today, one yelling and laughing from a conference room, ask me "what I thought about my Prius now".

What's interesting about the whole thing is that neither one of them has even seen the car. I seems like whenever you say hybrid, they think it's a Prius. It doesn't help either that they're both the type of people that bash hybrids whenever they get a chance. They also seem far to happy about this situation with the Prius... so maybe it's hybrid envy!

The trick is to say it without saying it... Mention that it is the most affordable hybrid on the market and that it got the best quality pick (or whatever it got) from consumer reports (even though they are lame). Let people make the connections.

Ford is doing that like crazy now. They have all kinds of commercials coming out that mention their product has "quality that can't be beat by Toyota." You know what people are thinking of now when they hear that...

Agreed. They should at least start advertising the car again. I haven't seen an ad for it on TV or in print for quite some time.

Wow - That's my opinion of Honda's (lack of) Marketing Dept, too. Joe CVT was right though, you don't want to take the low road and kick Toyota while they're down. Best bet is to key on the positive, like Bish says, Consumer Reports is a rag but if they're going to make you best in class than use it to your advantage.

A great promotion would be to give a $500 gas card, then state the fact that at today's gas prices this should get you over 7,000 miles on that card. I'd like to see a commercial with an I2 next to a pristine I1 and the narrator saying "We made the first hybrid sold in the US, Consumer Reports says we now make the most reliable one, too"

Honda should call me, I'll write a few commercials for them.

Yeah, its my fault. I have posted hundreds if not thousands of spelling and grammer errors, so since he got his undies in a bunch for a comment he considered racists in another post, its my fault because I am a middle aged white male and this is his way of gettingback at the man.

"Undies in a bunch", what does that mean anyway?

Default Twice this week!

I got the recall comment twice this week. The first time from my dear old mum who gave me a ride to the dealership and hung around while I closed on my Insight. Apparently she had been worried about me in my Prius. Sigh. Yesterday one of my coworkers looked at my Insight incredulously and said "You are still driving that!!!!!!". I admit they have a similar profile and the split rear window but does it really look exactly alike to people who haven't sunk money into one? Oh well, the Insight still looks better to me at least.
