I showed this study to an engineer (and gen 2 Prius driver) and he seemed to think that even if there was radiation it dissipates so that passengers shouldn't be exposed to it because they are far enough away. But in general he thought the study was baloney.
I spoke to another engineer (Insight driver) who didn't seem to think it had merit, but I was pretty bad at explaining it so I still have to show him the actual article.
