Default Difference I noticed when turning on and off the ECO button

I don't know if this has been covered or not as I have not read every single message on here.

I recall reading an article where the author wrote about pressing the ECO button and running in green mode makes no difference at all.

Here's one thing you can do to see a difference if you have cruise control.

Drive at least 30 MPH or so with the cruise control on while in ECO mode (green leaf is lit on the dash.)

Now use the cruise control button to accelerate.

Turn off the ECO button.

Now do it again and notice the difference when pressing the cruise control button to accelerate again.

With the ECO button on when you use the cruise control to accelerate, the car will increase speed very slowly and keep the dash light green on top.

With the ECO button turned off, the car will accelerate much faster and the dash will go blue until your speed is reached.

Let me know if you guys try this and see a difference. The LX doesn't have cruise control does it?

My LX and all of the other LX's on the lot lacked cruise ... which is something I need to correct.

Yep... a few options for that.

#1 Get a time machine, go back in time and buy the EX instead of the LX
#2 Install an aftermarket cruise control (doesn't sound like fun)
#3 Trade your car in for an EX in the future
#4 Keep the car you have and buy another model with cruise control.

Well I'm actually a fan of automotive wiring, so I'm thinking I can tackle a CC install. That remains to be seen though

Whats funny is.. i didnt know it lacked CC until it was too late. I just ASSumed it did. I mean hell my wifes Yaris that cost us 13500 has it. Oh well, you leave and you learn. All of the EX's they had were equiped with nav and I really didnt need/want that.

Yeah, but NAV is so cool. I use mine constantly. If I didn't have that fancy Alpine radio that I have now, I would have bought the EX with NAV just to save the hassle to installing it.

I can't stand having to keep throwing up a Garmin or TomTom on the window. And every time I park, I have to pull it down as I don't want to come out to my car to find a broken window.

I could use that to go all over Iowa. It's nice to know how many miles it is to get to some place. If you ever have to travel any place you've never been, it's a Godsend. It's 1000x better than printing stuff from Google maps or Mapquest.

Yes, you could use it go all over Iowa. The question is: Would you want to go all over Iowa? It's kind of the same here in Michigan, all I need is the quickest way out, I have that memorized.

Then why don't you get on dice.com, monster.com and indeed.com and start pumping out resumes and leave there if you hate it so much?

I almost got a job in Fairfield back in the late 1990's. Is it a good thing I didn't take the job?
