Smile Fitting aftermarket kit to a 2009 I2

Hi,

I have a 2009 model I2 and wish to put air horns in the space between the grill and the radiator, obviously without interupting the airflow.

Can anyone tell me how to get the grill off and or purchase a FSM (Factory Service Manual) that tells me how to do it?

Also can anyone tell me where to obtain a fully populated, ( all pins wired ), radio harness for the above, so that I can fit an in-dash sat nav unit, and or purchase a FSM that tells me how to do it?

regards

It has been reported that this should work.

Thanks noseph, I got to order one of those too.

Welcome bashanabad, thats easy.

Open hood
Use a flat blade screw driver to pop up the push pins you see in front of you.
Pull pins out and remove the flat plastic piece.
Then you should see 2-3 more of those to remove the bumper and front grill.
Then in each wheel well you should see a philips head screw facing forward to the direction of travel for the car.
Then under the car you should see 2 philips screws on each end and more of those push pins.
Remove the screws and the push pins that are along the front edge, but not attached to the rubber pieces.

Ok, ready to remove bumper and grill. Its basically a careful tug of war to peel the bumper off. Then reach down and unplug the turn signals.

Tada.......

Sorry Noseph I was ambiguous in my post, because there are 2 connectors on the back of the radio.

It was the 24 pin connector I was trying , unsuccessfully, to refer to. I have already ordered a Metra Harness from Installers.com, however the plug is for ES and I need the SE one which includes the sat nav, rear view camera and parking brake DVD inhibit signals.

Any ideas on that one please.

best regards

bashanabad (sorry I know I do not need to sign off, but I am English so just humour me!)

BASHANAbad, what hella horns are you looking at. I was going to get the honda accord horn, but I think I want to go with something a bit more powerful. I used to have a nice small air horn set up on my S2000, which I got from autobarn. They where not expensive either.

As for the wireharness, you can get it from www.crutchfield.com.
Im sure they deliver to the UK.

Actually I think it was this one.
Most likely you will have to mount these in the engine bay rather where you want to, but they are really easy to install.

Thanks Pikkashoe,

Actually I already have the horns, they are FIAM (italian) triple horn air horns. They only cost me $36, so not too bad.

Thanks for the crutchfield link, i will check them out.

Mine will fit in the grill space, and I think they will be more effective there.

We are getting more and more red light jumpers and people cutting you up, so good horns are essential.

Thanks for your help mate.

cheers bashanabad

U wouldnt have a link to the horns? Just want to make sure theres not a better product before I order the ones I posted. I never even considered getting air horns until I read your post. LOL

In regards to red light jumpers and people cutting you off, i'm sure our manly stock horn really scares them off. LOL Definitely need to get something better.
