Default 20,000 miles service...who went to the dealer?

I know, I know, it would have been so much cheaper if I did it myself or went to a garage. That being said, I am a car idiot and always get my cars fixed at a dealership. Keeping that in mind, I was wondering how much people paid for the 20,000 miles service? From what I understood, we just follow the maintenance minder on the car. Correct? Well mine had the oil and tire rotation code, but the dealership said that you need a special 20,000 service. Since the dealership I go to is known not to be scummy, I went along with this. I have the actual list of what was done, but it's not in front of me. I can post it though later for those who are interested. Total with coupon was $225. Does this seem reasonable?

P.S. What is the deal with the weird Civic (my loaner) gas pedal that comes out of the floor? I cannot get used to it. It is so sensitive! (or perhaps just so much more powerful than I am used to ;P )

Good question! I'm on 18,000 miles now having zero problems with the car but wondering if I should just dish out the cash for service... If you could, post what they serviced? Thanks! BTW I don't think I'll be taking this car anywhere else given it's type and one being quite rare on the roads. I would only assume the dealership is the best resource for this type of maintenance...

what did your screen say when it told u u needed service??

at 20k mine said B1
i forgot what the B and the A mean

but that one was 150, kind of regular oil change

but the "important one" is the 30k its the ABC1 ( shows on ur screen)

that one they charged me 320

they said that was really important

they "change the transmission fluid, wipers, blah blah "

if your screen showd something else other than abc1 then u problably got robbed

If it makes you sleep better thinking your warranty is more powerful because the dealer did the check, it's worth it. If it makes you sleep better knowing the car got looked over, it's worth it. $225 seems like cheap insurance.

Overall, that's not $225 worth of maintenance. It's a glorified oil change with 5 minutes of looking, and 5 minutes of spraying WD40 while the oil drains.

If you do your own maintenance, you check that other stuff all the time.

If it were a scummy dealer, they'd hit you up for new shocks, boots, etc, claiming they were leaking.

20 thousand? I think my oil life was at 15% at 17 thousand and I changed it then and the cvt fluid.

I took mine to the dealer, under $100 - didn't need air filter or a few other things they thought it might.

I was at about 22,000 miles, and my screen said A1, which is just the oil change and rotate tires code I believe. On that sheet, it looked like the 30,000 is around $320. Maybe for this 20,000 deal I was mostly just paying outrageous Boston-area labor costs for them to take a peak at the car?

My wife just took the car to a dealership and they wanted to charge her $450 for the same inspection so I think you made out better. I told her "no" over the phone (more a confindence thing, really, since she could already smell the scum). It's funny because they said the tires need rotating -despite the fact I had them rotated at another dealer a month ago. Oops -guess which dealer I'm not going back to again...
