Dash speakers question

I have an LX with a 4 speaker stereo. But I noticed the dash speaker grills and wondered what was up with those. I shined a flashlight through the windshield and down into the speaker grill to doscover that.... Its an empty hole under the grill that seems ready to accept the factory extra speakers. I even saw what i thought to be the factory harness connectors for speakers that go in this location. My question is, does this connector thats currently unused, connect to a port on a 6 speaker head unit only? Or does it just tie in with the wires from the driver and passenger door speakers? If so... I am thinking I could purchase the speakers that are intended to go in the dash, connect them. And whaola! I have a 6 speaker system. Thats my dream anyway. Does anyone have any speculation into this? I would also like to add steering controls. As it is an option with the LX 4 speaker system on the 2011 model. I am thinking I could also buy this, install it, and have working controls... Any ideas?

Those are equipped with a dome tweeter. Maybe 2 people here have upgraded from the oem one. I can not tell if its working or not on my model and it looks too difficult to replace, so I just did the door speaker replacements.
