Smile Bye Bye Insight

After almost 2 years and 22,000 trouble free miles my insight was traded in last weekend.
I liked the car from the moment I bought it but quickly got bored with it. I wanted something with more power and something that handled better, so I am now the very very very happy owner of a 2011 mini cooper s clubman. This is a car I will keep for a very long time.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the useful information and tips I learned from this sight and to all of the friendly people I had discussions with. Motor on friends....

Well See Ya.....I am sure you will keep the car for a very long long time or until you get board with it Best of luck to you, and enjoy the new gas mileage. I thought you would have said a CT200h, but not a mini.

OP congrats on the new car, just curious can you give us a ball-park on what an Insight is worth as a “trade-in” I really like our Insight a lot, in fact I’ve never got bored with it, but then we got it for the sole purpose of saving as much gas as possible. Anyway, we now have three vehicles and I’m thinking of selling one of them, unfortunately the Insight is the only car I own where I’m in an equity position so I was thinking I might sell it if I had too. I would be extremely sad to do it though as I love having it and driving it.

Mine was a 2010 EX no nav. They first offered me 15,000 but I got them up to 16,500 which wasn't easy but then again dealer trade in price is always low.

We have a Cooper S 6 speed. It now has 85,000 dealer cared for miles. It is in the shop now as the A/C went out and they also discovered some oil leaks......long story short....we get the car back tomorrow after $3200 in repairs. Not a fan since the dealership did all the maintenance and car was babied. Good luck with yours.

I agree. We love our "bulldog" and won't part with it. It just blew us away that this all happened at once. The Clubman S and The Countryman S are really nice vehicles. We drove the Countryman S all wheel drive....nice! They can't keep them in stock!
Enjoy your Clubman!

Having been a previous mini coopers S owner, I was planning on buying a 2011 clubman but after reading the nightmare reliability forum posts at NAM, I decided to get a 2011 Honda Insight. Yes, yes, the clubman is a lot more fun and engaging but I couldn't get over the awful reliability factor. I don't mean to rain on your celebration but minis are labor intensive so be ready to have a long term relationship with your service advisor. Again, the clubman is a fun car but BMW needs to get the HPFP issue resolved, also the belt tensioner issue fixed, also the carbon build up in the valves, also the waste gate issue fixed and the the windows automatically going down, even when the car is shut down. These are but a few issues that are affecting a large number of new mini owners. I just couldn't go through with buying another one. Hopefully you will be one of the few who are immune to these defects. Happy motoring.

As long as you didnt trade it for a prius or wrap it around a tree I am ok. I knew a guy with a cooper and the super charger, but it was freaking small and you had to crank the door handle twice to get it to open. Ive heard from others that BMWs are high maintenance, but never owned one.
