coming from an el camino it must be a shock to fill up the tank in the Insight i drove a jeep before i got mine and it got 18-24mpg so going to the Insight i was seeing 45-50 the first day i drove it home

Just wondering
Tim,

I concur that the during the short time I've had my '11 Insight that the MID's reported MPG has been slightly higher than what I actually achieved. However, I track my mileage and mpg manually in Excel spreadsheet (which I've done across my last 4 vehicles) - so if I report anything, it is based upon actuals (not the MID) and at least 3/4s empty tank.

I too just picked up my new 2011 Insight LX yesterday. I had to wait 3 weeks for one to arrive here to San Antonio. The GM said he doesn't expect to see another one for 2 or 3 months. I traded in a 2008 Tribute on my Insight, very happy with it after 1 day.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your trade. Hope you enjoy your I2 as much as I do mine.

Just bought the Insight 2011 EX/Navi on Sunday. Put 102 miles on so far and average 48mpg. Came from 08 Infiniti FX. Huge different on mpg. I am MPG happy now.

Gotten around 300 miles on the insight so far and what I noticed is that mpg is very dependent on style. Using the display I can get over 40 mpg according to the HUD, but how I like to drive normally, most likely how I used to drive normally doesn't get much over 30. Fun however to zip around in, its about as fast as the El Camino, not sure if its quite as sticky as the Trans Am in the driveway either.

Just wondering how sticky these Insights are? First FWD car I've owned so far so should be interesting.

My Insight is sticky as can be. Every time I think my nuts are clinging to one of my legs turns out as soon as I closed the door the Insight folded down like a transformer and got in my pants when I wasn't looking.

So, what do you mean by sticky? I actually looked up the reference and couldn't sort out what a sticky car meant ...

Zwolfe, I've got that problem too, but for me it's my ovaries . I think by sticky he means (maybe) how many lateral 'G's', or fractions thereof, can it handle. My gut feeling is not too much... I've got to read more about the sway bars available for this car, as I'd like to have more stability at high speeds. BTW, if I happen to be correct in guessing his meaning of 'sticky', please blame it on the UK version of Top Gear.
