Default Trip was a success

We didn't get as high mileage as I was hoping. Averaged 46.6 mpg for the whole trip, but the car did well overall and even drove to the top of Grandfather Mtn! The best we did was 51 mgp on the way home and out of the mtns.

There was one major drawback, though. We were pulled over by a federal ranger on Skyline Drive who said we were doing 58 and we were certainly not doing anywhere near that. We think it's because radar just doesn't work on the Insight, or many hybrids for that matter, because there are no right angles on the car for it to bounce off of. Has anyone else run into this?

I have noticed that at those "YOUR SPEED IS" signs around town, sometimes the number flickers between the correct speed and something 12-13 mph faster than what I was going. Not sure why...

You were doing 58?! The car barely does 50!

Skyline drive, that is in VA right? I generally go 75mph through there. Did they pull you got going too slow? I havent had any issues with the cops, normally they zip right around me.

For mountains the best you can do is just slow down. The IMA pack is too small to be of any help for going up or capturing any of the energy made on the way down.

Skyline Drive, which connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway, has many sections that are 30-35 mph. You WILL get pulled over if you go much faster than that. Even the Blue Ridge Parkway is filled with cops. Don't get overzealous, because you probably will get pulled over there, too.

You can have plenty of fun on the BRP by following the white speed limit signs (the yellow ones are merely advisory!).
