Default iPhone 4 via iPod/USB Connector Questions

I have a 2011 Insight LX with the iPod interface connector in the center armrest, which works fine with my old iPod Classic. I'm considering phone upgrade to either an iPhone or an Android OS phone. One potential PRO with the iPhone was that I could use the iPod connection to play music from the iPhone & charge the phone leaving the DC Power Outlet available for charging a separate Bluetooth or other device. In this configuratiom, I'm guessing that the iPhone would sit in the center armrest just like the iPod and I would be relying on the Bluetooth solely for answering and placing calls (since the iPhone would be in the armrest).

Does anyone have experience with an iPhone in this configuration? If so, how is your reception with the iPhone in the armrest?

What are your overall thoughts regarding this iPhone placement? Is it just too much of a hassle (in which case I should just keep using separate iPod for music and remove this aspect from new phone consideration)?

Thanks.

Default iPhone 4 integration

I use mine everyday like that. I connect the iPhone into the cable and it charges while I listen to podcasts.... when I get to the office, I unplug it. You can answer the phone via bluetooth if it rings (the phone automatically mutes the podcast or music). You can put the phone in the front pocket in the armrest or under the elastic strap under the armrest door (I didn't know about this until I read it on this forum a few weeks ago). Works perfectly.

Steve,

Thanks for the information. Good to know that it works fine in this situation (as long as one gets a suitable mating bluetooth device).
