Default MID screen blank

I've asked this before but does anybody know why the MID screen defaults to blank screen everytime you go through a drive cycle. I love my Insight but this is really annoying me. Yes, all you have to do is push a button but why? I don't see the logic behind this other than Honda not wanting you to see MID everytime you drive.

Its like you have to push a button to see the speedometer everytime you drive. Doesn't make sense to me.

I hope Honda can come up with some sort of update to remedy this.

I think thats something "unique" to the American models. Its part of the vast conspiracy to polute the planet and continue record profits for the oil companies.

Yeah, its really annoying. And to make matters worse, you can actually choose a blank screen as one of the screens of the selection.

Another option is to get a scan gauge or one of its knock offs and use it to monitor the system in interest. Then stick it to the steering wheel collumn in front of the display.

Canadian models are the same. But my reflexes have made me press the button once before driving out every time.

It's a bitch, I must admit... come on people! Thank god you never had to start an MD-80, B727 or something else even remotely complicated.

Haha the real b*tches in this thread aren't the car... JK!

I like having a blank screen sometimes, why do I always need to be overthinking my driving. It can become very fatiguing!

I find the MD-80 relatively easy to start. Why did you pick that?

Some people here are missing the point. So let me make it clear. The point I am trying to make is that there is no rationale reasoning behind the MID screen defaulting to blank screen. Besides, as Cobb pointed out there is a option to choose blank screen for those of you who get headache processing information.

The european model, probably, is wired differently in many ways...
Scrolling up and down with them right-hand arrows you can choose a blank screen, just before the icon showing the seat belats. Yet, it ain't completely blank, you can still see which odometer is counting (tripA or B) and your total mileage.
Yes, i would also hate having a blank screen every single time i start my engine and i also cannot find any rationale behind the us model wiring...

Yes, it would be nice if it would just default to whatever screen you left it at. But both of my cars do this (the other is not a Honda) and I think it's a non-issue.

I guess there's not much to talk about for the Honda Insight other than the MID. Maybe that's a good thing!
