I have had my I2 since November and the dealer threw in the first oil change for free so of course I was going to take advantage of it. The A1 info had been on and I made an appointment. Got in at 5% oil life and was at 10039 miles. I am on this forum so you can probably already guess I know what the A1 is for before I got there. Oil and tire rotation. So any way I get to the dealer and get checked in, every thing went smoothly. The service agent bragged about how great the Insights are and how they come in for regular service but never have other issues. :/ The I2 has only been out for a year or so now. I would hope there weren't any other issues. He then told me the A1 was oil and filter and give it a quick inspection. I told him I think the 1 is for tire rotation but he assured me it was for the oil filter. Thinking I may have misread something and gotten it confused I continued on with the service and while waiting looked it up on my iphone. I went to the Honda Owners Link and pulled up the service description and showed him that a tire roation was what the 1 was for. He said he always thought the 1 was the oil filter. I said no the 1 was tire rotation and you ususally should rotate every oil change especially at 10000 mile oil change intervals. I asked him if they could rotate the tires but he said the free service they offer is oil an filter only, if I wanted tires rotated I would have to pay for that. I declined as I have a tire shop that I used for my other cars that would be happy to take care of me on my new car.
So in summary my Honda dealer would rather give a free oil filter when one is not reccomended than rotate tires which would only be labor with no parts. The free oil change service would have run $73.83 if I paid for it so I am glad I got it for free. The oil they use is Honda conventional so I have to think the cost of 4 quarts and a filter would be under $25. When I change my own oil I use Mobil 1 which I stock up when it is onsale for $29 for 5 quarts and a Mobil 1 filter. So in another 10000 miles I will be doing my own oil change using synthetic for less than half the price of the dealers conventional oil.
what did your oil look like at 10K? Are you going to go another 10K before another change? That interval is really hard for me to buy into especially with the small filter.
went to my honda dealer, did oil change, they forgot to screw in the bottom black plastic, got on highway and it ripped open and car sounded like a drain with it hitting the floor lol.
