Default Diff between AC on, AC off, Fan only

Hi, Insight newbie here, but life-time Honda owner.
Great site, btw.

Is it just me or is using the fan only seem to blow the same cold air as having the AC on.

And what is the difference between using the Fan only and using the Fan with "AC off" indicator showing?

Yes, I consider that a bug. To make sure the AC is not on, press the AC button until it shows that it is OFF on the display (the fan must be running to do that). Next time you start the car the fan will be on again but the AC will still be off as you set it.

Ah, I see...
after reading the reply I went inside the car and verified the operation.

So, when the fan is running, unless the display explicitly says "AC off", the AC is really never off.

Indicator "AC on" = AC is on
Indicator "AC off" = AC is off
No Indicator = AC is on

Little weird, but as a programmer I can see how things like this can be overlooked.
Unusual for Honda, but I can live with that. I'm just hoping that they didn't leave any bugs on more critical part of the car's operation.

Thanks for your reply.

I just tried turning of A/C off while leaving fan at 2 bars, auto-stop will not engage anymore. Anyone having the same problem? I wish auto stop will engage and stay engaged forever like when climate control is off entirely, but still have the blowers gently circulate air within cabin.

Yup. I just leave it off or turn it off when approaching a series of stops and open the windows.

FYI, if you need ac, the best and most efficient is to set the ac on, temp to lo and regulate the temp inside the car using the blower speed.

If you use the auto feature it mixes heat with the air and uses the ac to remove humidity from the air.

Do you guys have a 2010? In my 2011 the auto stop seems to work every time regardless of the fan being on or off. Actually even with the A/C on the engine shuts down during stops. With A/C on the engine is off so the A/C is no longer blowing cold bit the fan is still working. That is with Econ mode on...

Me too with my 2011. Econ mode on, auto stop still engages every time, even with the AC on - the fan just goes down to low speed. The only annoying bit (as has been pointed out) is how the engine always comes back on putting it in park - I assume that's because it's going through Reverse on its way to Park? The owner's manual stated that the engine always goes on when you put it in reverse - I wonder if a non-traditional gear shift lever would make a difference there.

I have a 2011, and the Auto Stop seems to work regardless of the AC setting.
