Default Why I just Bought an Insight!

We had been considering buying a VW Wagen TDI, until i found that the 34k CAD model was available in a wider range of interior and exterior colours in the USA - and "only" cost 26k CAD for the same spec . . .

This sent me looking around again - when I wandered into a Honda dealers . . .

Now folks - heres the thing - most people on this forum go on about MPG etc in relation to the Insight - what blew me away on a test drive was the fact that in mixed town driving it drove really, really well! I kept up with traffic, no problem, it felt great, was quiet AND it indicated an average 5.1l/100km!

Test driving the Golf (despite any claims on MPG) gave an average of 9.1l/100km - not what the figures would have you believe at all. My current car - which spends 99% of it's time on mixed urban/town driving - A V6 Touareg - averages 15l/100km . . . enough said

Simple maths later, at 25k km/year, just on fuel we would be saving 300CAD a month @ 1.4CAD a litre!

AND the Insight actually feels and drives great, and is loaded with features.

So, I get back from the test drive - and the sales guy says "oh and Honda just gave us a 4000CAD incentive on these!"

SOLD! to the guy with the broad grin on his face :0)

and, the more I think about it - the happier I am - I'm "walking the walk" in running this low everything car here in Canada, and going to enjoy it!

Cheers
Rj

Amen. Enjoy it, it's a great car.

Plus, I don't know from personal experience but everyone else I know who owns a VW car has had it in the shop more than on the road, while I've heard nothing but praise for the longevity of Hondas - I had almost 200,000 miles on my Accord before I sold her off for a grand.

It really is quiet around town. Most of these reviews that complain about road noise are probably complaining about road noise on the highway at 70 mph!

The Golf gasoline is just a cheap car made in Mexico. You'll have to move up to the Golf TDI made in germany to get fuel economy; but that's going to be 30k+ CAD like you mentioned.

First tank update - car runs beautifully, 5.3l/100km in mainly heavy traffic commutes.

Incredible, and the impact on my pocket has been the first thing felt.

Thanks Honda!
